After an unpleasant comment, a young man says he is wrong instead of saying he feels hurt.
In the hypothetical example, the description of emotion is replaced by a global judgment of itself. I propose a more circumscribed formulation: what happened, what did I feel and what do I need now?
Naming an experience leaves room for change. It is not necessary to use a diagnostic vocabulary for every emotion, nor to deny the seriousness of what you are experiencing.
