A young man reads a provocation and prepares an aggressive response in front of everyone.

I propose to suspend the sending and formulate first what it would like to achieve: clarify, set a limit or stop the discussion. In the example, a shorter answer avoids exposing personal information and allows you to get out of the comparison.

Pause does not make provocation acceptable. It helps not to hand over choice of language to the public dynamic, especially when other people are observing and amplifying the conflict.
